Let’s Teach – Faculty Remote Teaching Support

VSU Office of Distance Education

Overview

  • VSU is planning for remote instructional delivery due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) health crisis. According to guidance provided by the Department of Education regarding the crisis, distance education methods of delivery may be implemented by institutions. At VSU, the use of the Blackboard LMS is preferred due to record-keeping abilities. In conjunction with Blackboard, additional options are the use of email, phone conferencing, web conferences, etc.  It is key to communicate and receive student submissions regularly and assess mastery of course learning outcomes.
  • The Let’s Teach initiative provides training to hybrid and face-to-face delivery faculty to update their courses to implement fully remote instruction.  This webpage provides faculty members with resources to support the university’s effort and just-in-time training resources.

Quality Matters Resources

Quality Matters (QM) has provided an Emergency Remote Instruction Checklist. For each consideration, QM has provided a rationale. VSU is a member of Quality Matters. As a result, consider integrating QM recommendations as you update your course shells.
